Member Number, User Password For access to Express Online Banking, you will need to set up a password connected to your member number if haven't already done so. Your User Password is encrypted when sent and is not shared or reviewed.

Express Online Banking and Other Applications All sensitive transactions use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encrypted network transmissions. We utilize 128-bit VeriSign digital encryption. Physical access to critical systems and network components is limited to specifically authorized personnel.

    BBB advises consumers to do the following if they suspect they have fallen victim to a phishing scam.

    • Never reply to the email. If the message includes a link within it, never click it. Many schemers use this as way to spread a viral attack on your computer.
    • Do not give personal or financial information to anyone who contacts you via email. Even if they claim they are from your financial institution, the IRS or a law enforcement agency, these businesses will not contact you via email; they will send you a letter.
    • Spread the word.Discuss phishing scams with all the members of your family who have email addresses.
    • Transmitted information should be encrypted. When sending personal information like addresses, credit card numbers and Social Security numbers over the Internet, make sure the website is fully encrypted and the network is secure.
    • Know the red flags. Watch out for grammatical mistakes in emails. Poor grammar or misspelled words are red flags that the email is probably a scam. • Protect your computer. Keep your anti-virus software up-to-date and run it regularly.
    • Contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC works to legally prevent fraudulent business practices in the marketplace. File a complaint with the FTC by calling (877) FTC-HELP.

    Phishing & Vishing Phishing and vishing are two forms of social engineering attacks aimed at both individual and business targets. Phishing is an e-mail fraud method in which the perpetrator sends out legitimate-looking email and drives the recipient to an “official-looking” web site in an attempt to gather personal and financial information from recipients. Vishing is the counterpart of phishing. Instead of being directed to a web site, the victim is asked to make a telephone call.

    While there has been a tremendous amount of effort to inform and educate the public about phishing and vishing scams, many consumers continue to be duped. The Federal Trade Commission suggests these tips to help consumers avoid getting hooked by a phishing and vishing scams:

    • If you get an email or pop-up message that asks for personal or financial information, do not reply. And don’t click on the link in the message, either. Legitimate companies don’t ask for this information via email.

    • Area codes can mislead. Some scammers send an email or text message that appears to be from a legitimate business and ask you to call a phone number to update your account or access a “refund.” Because they use Voice-Over Internet Protocol technology, the area code you call does not reflect where the scammers really are. If you need to reach an organization you do business with, call the number on your financial statements or on the back of your credit card. In any case, delete random emails and text messages that ask you to confirm or divulge your financial information.

    • Use anti-virus and anti-spyware software, as well as a firewall, and update them all regularly. Some phishing emails contain software that can harm your computer or track your activities on the Internet without your knowledge. Anti-virus software and a firewall can protect you from inadvertently accepting such unwanted files.

    • Review credit card and checking account statements as soon as you receive them to check for unauthorized charges. If your statement is late by more than a couple of days, call your credit card company or bank to confirm your billing address and account balances.

    • Be cautious about opening any attachment or downloading any files from emails you receive, regardless of who sent them. These files can contain viruses or other software that can weaken your computer’s security.

    • If you believe you’ve been scammed, file your compliant with the FTC, at www.ftc.gov, and then visit the FTC’s Identity Theft website at www.consumer.ftc.gov. Contact us with any questions.

    • Don't include your Social Security number or driver's license number on sensitive documents.

    Credit Card Fraud

    • Sign your cards immediately.
    • Memorize your PIN and don't write it on anything.
    • Don't enter your card online unless you are on a secure site.
    • Keep a record of all your account numbers, expiration dates, and contact information for each issuer.
    • Report a lost or stolen credit card immediately.
    • Save your receipts to compare against your billing statement. When discarding receipts, tear them up or shred them.
    • Monitor your statements monthly.
    • Review your receipts for voided transactions and be sure they do not post to your account.
    • Only carry cards that you need; leave others in a safe place at home.
    • Don't give out your account number unless you know and trust the business.
    • Shield your hand from view of others when entering your PIN at ATMs.

We have implemented a comprehensive information security program designed to protect against threats or hazards to the security or integrity of member records and to protect against the unauthorized access or use of such records or information.     Neither the credit union nor any other entity that transacts business can guarantee absolute privacy. Our commitment is to provide reasonable safeguards to member privacy against reasonably foreseeable threats. These safeguards include the following:

    • Building and computer room access restrictions. No entry by non-employees or non-officials is permitted to non-public areas of the credit union where data or files are stored. Privileges on the credit union's information processing and storage system is restricted based on the employee's need to access information in fulfilling their member service duties.
    • Identity authentication. For in-branch transactions, identity is verified by the employee viewing a photo identification or by visual recognition for known members. For telephone transactions, identity is verified by requesting information known to the member but not likely known by others. For Express Home Banking access and Express Telephone Banking, we have added multi-factor authentication to further protect members against stolen PINs by adding another layer of identification requirements. Changes to a member's address will not be accepted by phone. All such requests must be submitted in writing along with the member's signature.
    • Firewalls. Unity One CU's computer networks are protected by firewalls that prevent any unauthorized access to our computers. Every message that enters or leaves the Unity One network passes through a firewall which will block any message that does not meet our strict criteria. This is one of our key safeguards that protect your information.
    • Intrusion Detection Monitoring. Our computer network is monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for potential hacking attacks or other unauthorized intrusion. This state-of-the-art service will immediately respond to any threats by preventing access to our network and notify us in the event of any potential intrusion.
    • Secure transmissions and Encryption.When you use the internet to conduct transactions or communicate with Unity One CU, we use an encryption protocol known as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to protect your personal information. SSL converts sensitive data into secure code that cannot be decrypted by others and then sends the encrypted code over a secure connection. All transactions conducted over Express On-line Home Banking (including Bill Pay transactions) are encrypted and conducted over a secure connection.

    • Automatic sign-off. For your security, when using Express Home Banking, if there is no activity on your computer for 10 minutes we automatically end your on-line banking session. This reduces the chances of unauthorized access to your accounts.
    • Secure Log-In. When trying to access Express Home Banking or certain transactions on Express Telephone Banking, you will be required to go through several layers of identity authentication. In addition to a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that you establish, you will be asked to establish a security image (for Home Banking) that lets you know that you are at Unity One CU's home banking site and you may be asked to answer a number of challenge questions. You also have the option of entering your PIN on-line using an electronic keyboard which prevents an outsider from using spyware to track your keyboard entries. All of these additional steps are designed to provide the highest level of protection against on-line identity theft.
    • Online E-Statements. E-Statements add another level of security for your personal information. You have the option of receiving your statements electronically via Express Online Home Banking rather than receiving a paper statement in the mail. The E-Statements are protected by the same multi-factor authentication steps, secure connections and encrypted data mentioned above. Paper statements can easily be stolen at any point during the mailing process - including from your own mailbox! E-Statements are safe, secure and faster in delivery.
    • Email Policy. Unity One CU's commitment: We will NEVER send unsolicited emails asking members to provide, update or verify personal information such as passwords, Social Security numbers, PINs, credit or debit card numbers or any other personal, confidential information.
